When I questioned further about the fact that it hasn't even been shipped & still says "pending online" he changed his statement to say the order was already deleted out of the system. I don't fully understand as I wasn't even on the prior call for that long (my phone shows 20min & few seconds) he responded immediately that he couldn't cancel my order because it was already processed. Then I got hung up on! I immediately called back, answered by awkward Christmas music (it's July, I get it but total cringe) & then a man with a very inconsistent accent picked up & asked the same info, explained about 30 min cancelation policy? 20 minutes later no response but could hear the phone being moved around & subtle background noises. I called the customer service number - took less than 10 seconds to give my info & was nicely asked to hold a moment while she brought up my account to cancel it. I downloaded the app and same thing happened. Gravik briefly posing as Nick Fury to kill Hill was arguably way more shocking than the opening reveal of Everett Ross is a Skrull, which shows that killing Hill worked from a narrative standpoint. The live chat glitched as soon as I selected to cancel order. However, considering that those who are familiar with Marvel Comics or with the MCU’s Skrulls were already expecting this sort of twist, Marvel’s Secret Invasion needed something more. It would have been easy for Secret Invasion to rely on Skrull twists to set the tone for the show. Hill’s death also proves that the Skrull insurrection led by Gravik is an actual threat and that they will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. It quickly establishes that anything is possible in Secret Invasion, and that viewers’ favorite characters could be at risk. Killing off a Phase 1 MCU character who went through the Battle of New York, the fall of SHIELD, the Battle of Sokovia, and many other events right at the beginning of the series is a bold creative decision. Likewise, Wanda’s “death” in Doctor Strange 2 has little to no actual impact, as Scarlet Witch’s return in the Multiverse Saga is very likely. Scarlet Witch killing Earth-838’s Illuminati members was surprising in the context of the film, but it did not add much to the rest of the MCU. However, none of those movies and shows killed off a character that audiences had been following since Phases 1 or 2 like Endgame did. Loki, WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania were all extremely important to the broader Multiverse Saga story. Since Avengers: Endgame, which killed off Iron Man and Black Widow, the MCU had been lacking a character death that raise the stakes for the franchise's overarching narrative. However, for a new Marvel movie or show to truly feel like a big event, it has to have longstanding consequences. Even though the MCU’s Secret Invasion show is not supposed to be a direct adaption of the comic, the series has been promoted as a significant event that will have implications for the rest of the MCU’s Phase 5. Marvel Comics’ Secret Invasion was a major event for the Marvel Universe, especially because of how many characters it involved.
